ENGSO LOGO Poem
An azure bridge and a yellow star          There are those who might ask, why they are          The ENGSO logo, and what they mean          The answer's our aims, our hopes, our dream                    The bridge it will help span many a gap          People may cross without fear or mishap          It will link all the nations from every place          No matter the colour, the gender or race                    A star is a symbol, it shines in the sky          It's something to aim for no matter how high          From beginners to veterans there's always a place          For all who take part and join in the race                    At the ENGSO Assemblies we are but a few          Of the many millions, who want us to do          Our best representing their wishes and dreams          for the future of sport and all that it means                    So welcome dear friends both the old and the new          Your commitment ot ENGSO will see us get through          Our tasks, which are many with objectives so high          But our bridge it will help reach that star in the sky.

ENGSO
a Pan-European sports organisation

European National Sports Confederations and National Olympic Committees, if they are the national umbrella organisations for sports, form the association "European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation" (ENGSO) which is a non-profit making or distributing organisation with public responsibilities with seat in House of Sports in Paris, France. This means that the members of ENGSO represent the national sport in its broadest sense - from children and youth sports, over "sport for all" activities to elite sports. ENGSO presently has 40 national umbrella sports organisations as members and 1 organisation as observer. ENGSO is today the only European sports organisation having been granted consultative status by the Council of Europe.

Dear Friends,

The ENGSO Strategy for the years 2007 to 2011 has provided us with plentiful challenges and demands created by the operational activities. The role of ENGSO role is becoming ever greater with the increasing number of partnerships, such as the ones we have now with different EU institutions, the Council of Europe, various sport and health organisations. There are 40-50 international meetings in which representatives of ENGSO participate every year.

I am indeed pleased with the work of the very professional ENGSO Secretariat and the ENGSO Working Groups, as well as with our very active ENGSO Youth. As a volunteer leader of ENGSO myself, it is my aim to build up the administrative support for our organisation, so that we can meet an increasingly busy schedule of meetings, policy implementations, funding applications, preparation of statements, organisation of meetings.

Allow me to thank the Swedish Sports Confederation for their exceptional support and their great effort in organisation of such a successful Conference. I think we can all agree that the results from such events greatly contribute to our members.

I would also like to thank the ENGSO Secretariat for preparation of this Forum and ENGSO EU Working Group for their active participation. In my words of gratitude I wish to thank the European Commission, Council of Europe and European Lotteries for their outstanding contributions to the Forum.

And last but not least I would like to thank you all for your valuable contributions to the final product as the outcome of this Forum – the conclusions that we will all be able to benefit from in our work in sports.

I look forward to seeing you all in April 2009, in the City of Paris, for the 17th ENGSO General Assembly.
