The Austrian Sports Federation and the Austrian Federal Chancellery/Sports Departement invited to the "women.sport.culture" conference in Graz, December 5 and 6, 2003. Partners of the organisation were the City of Graz and the government of Styria. The City of Graz staged a welcome reception, which was visited by Permanent Secretary for Sport in the Federal Chancellery, Mag. Karl Schweitzer, Member of the Styrian government, Hermann Schützenhöfer, Vicepresidents of the Austrian Sports Federation LH-Stv. Liese Prokop und Dr.Gernot Wainig, Dr. Erich Irschik, Federal Chancellery/Sports Department, Dr. Fritz Stehlik, head of the department for sport of the Styrian government, Mag. Gerhard Peinhaupt, head of the department for sport of the city of Graz, Secretary General of the Austrian Sports Federation, Dr. Walter Pillwein, ASKÖ SG Michael Maurer, ASVÖ SG Felix Netopilek, SPORTUNION SG Mag. Fritz Smoly, invited guests, Dr. Edit Schlaffer, keynote speaker and many more. |

| Keynote speaker on Friday was Dr. Edit Schlaffer. Her presentation can be downloaded on this site (in german!). Intensive discussion marked both days and displayed the different "realities" in sport! While on one hand structural problems were discussed, problems in finding female co-workers for projects for women were described.(Dr. Edgar Ganster, ski jumping, Martin Kogler, ice hockey). There are obviously no easy solutions. |

| Daniele Salva (SG French EWS Chair) explained the influence of the EWS Chair on the situation of women and sport in France. Intensive discussion, interesting reports, the presentation of various "realities" and 'best practice' examples demonstrated, that "women and sport" is a hot issue! |
